Alena Baeva ~ violinist



  • Born in 1985, Alena started to learn violin when she was 5 with Olga Danilova in Alma-Ata (Kazakhstan).
  • During her earlier studies in Alma-Ata, she has won several All-Russia competitions for young musicians.
  • In 1995, Alena Baeva moved to Moscow, where she became a student of Professor Edward Gratch in the Central Music School of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory.
  • In 2002, Alena Baeva entered the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory with Professor Edward Gratch.
  • Since 2003 she is under the personal attention of one of the greatest musicians of our time, violinist Shlomo Mintz, with whom she takes lessons.
  • Alena Baeva started an international career at the age of 10 with a concert at the renewed International festival in Tours, France.
  • When she was 12, she won the First Prize and special Virtuoso Prize at the VII International competition in Kloster-Schontal (Germany).
  • In 2000, took place the International T.Wronski solo violin competition in Warsaw for violinists under 30. Alena Baeva, despite being the youngest participant, won the First Prize, together with two special prizes for the best interpretation of Sonata by Bach and Chiaccona by Bartok.
  • In October 2001, at the XII International Henryk Wieniawski violin competition in Poznan, one of the most prestigious violin competitions, she performed with great success and the First Prize, the Gold Medal and 9 Special Prizes including the prize for the best performance of the contemporary composition.
  • Alena Baeva is invited to take part in many international festivals including “The stars in Kremlin” and others in Russia, the Festival-Academy in Tours in 1995-2001 and the “Violin in the Louvre” in 2004 in France, the “Academia Monti-Azzuri” and the “Omaggio a Roma” in Italy, the European Limassol Festival, the Sion – Festival in Switzerland, etc...
  • She is regularly invited to play with famous orchestras (Russian State Symphony Orchestra, National Orchestra of Belgium, Moscow Symphony, Sinfonia Varsovia with Jerzy Maksimyuk, Vladimir Ziva, Gilbert Varga, Konstantin Orbelyan…) and as a member of chamber music ensembles. She is also invited to make a Paris symphonic debut with Kurt Masur in 2006.
  • She has recorded for TV and radio of Germany, Italy, Portugal, France, USA, Russia, Belgium and Hong-Kong.
  • Baeva performed on famous musical stages such as Auditorium du Louvre, Verdi hall of Milan conservatory, Carnegie-hall in New-York, Grand hall of Warsaw Philharmony, Palais de Beaux-Arts of Brussels, Large hall of Moscow conservatory, Salle Gaveau, Theatre de Champs-Elysees in Paris.
  • Alena Baeva is the soloist of the Moscow Philharmonic Society since 2001. She is supported by Rostropovich foundation and by “The Art of the Violin Foundation”.
  • In 2004, Alena Baeva won the Grand-prix at the Second Moscow International Paganinď competition as well as a special prize: Antonio Stradivari violin (1723, “Ex-Wieniawski”) which was given her for one year by Russian State Collection of Unique Musical instruments (with support of “The Art of the Violin Foundation”, Moscow).
  • In May 2005 she became a laureate of Queen Elisabeth competition in Brussels.
  • In the beginning of 2006 there will be released her CD with Russian National Orchestra and Paavo Berglund, performing Schostakovich and Bruch First violin concertos.
  • Alena Baeva’s recitals and performances with orchestras in Russia, Europe, USA, China, Israel, Brazil and other countries has always great successes and encountered excellent press releases.
